At Kealoha Psychology, our Psychological Evaluations for Children and Teens are not a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, each assessment is expertly tailored to meet the unique strengths and specific needs of the individual.

The process begins with a parent intake to discuss your concerns and reasons for seeking an evaluation. The Pediatric Psychologist, Dr. Kealoha, will also obtained a history of your child's development across multiple domains. Based on the information gathered, Dr. Kealoha will determine a preliminary assessment plan, which will be discuss at the conclusion of the intake appointment.
Following the intake, the test administration appointment with the child will be completed. The specific tests administered are based on the reasons for the evaluation, the child's performance during testing, and clinical observations made by Dr. Kealoha, a Licensed Psychologist. Testing sessions for school-aged children typically range between 2.5 and 6 hours. For more complex cases or sessions exceeding 3 hours, testing appointments are generally scheduled across multiple appointments.
Parents and other individuals who know the child or teenager well, such as teachers or counselors, are also asked to complete questionnaires or participate in consultations as part of our comprehensive child and adolescent Psychological Evaluations in San Diego. These questionnaires provide essential information that helps the Clinical Psychologist better understand the child in the context of their chronological age.
A feedback appointment is typically scheduled a week after all testing is completed. During this appointment, the Pediatric Clinical Psychologist will discuss the comprehensive findings, clinical impressions, and any applicable diagnosis. Personalized suggestions for services and supports are provided as well as expert guidance by the Licensed Psychologist in California on obtaining school, community, medical, and others services, as suggested by the overall findings of the comprehensive Pediatric Evaluation.
